"Yesterday my second grader added 61 plus 61 in her head and she's zipping through the Harry Potter series. So while the school doesn’t measure her progress with test scores, I can see how much she has learned, but more importantly, I can see and feel her excitement about learning."

Our Programs

The Portland Montessori School offers a variety of programs, including our primary, also referred to as Children's House, and elementary programs, which guide children according to the Montessori method of education. Our Children's House program serves children aged 2 1/2 to 6. Our expanding elementary program currently serves students in grades 1 through 4, with plans to add grades 5 and 6 over the next two years. Both programs are five days per week, Monday through Friday. Please download our Program Summary form for more detailed information. Our low student to teacher ratio in both programs ensures that each child receives the individualized guidance they need to reach their fullest potential.

We also offer before and after school enrichment as well as holiday camps to help parents whose workday extends beyond school hours. During the summer, the school runs Camp Vida, a summer camp with a variety of experiences designed for primary aged students.
